...anyone played or own an Engl Fireball 60-watt amp head??? i'm considering buying one and would appreciate hearing any comments or thoughts on it??? my playing style is anything from 80's hard rock(lynch,de martini, evh) to speed/thrash/death/doom metal. i'm looking for clarity & low noise under high gain, very tight punchy bottom end and good tone at bedroom volume levels as well........... thanks!!!

Re: Engl "fireball" Amp Question???

I think it'll be too scooped sounding for the 80's stuff - way too tight, as well.

ENGL's excel best at stop-on-a-dime-tight-as-hell Meshuggah style metal, IMO.

I dunno about the noise, but it'll give you clarity and punch under gain, with more tightness than you'll ever need.

Re: Engl "fireball" Amp Question???

DSS is right in his description. But i wouldn't call the fireball really scooped.
But the Fireball will definitely not work if you want bedroom levels from it,cou can totally forget about using 60W of tube power at bedroom levels.

Re: Engl "fireball" Amp Question???

ok guys, thanks for the info.tight, punchy bottom end is definately a big plus for me.i've been considering the Engl Fireball 60-watt head as well as the new Randall 50-watt MTS 2-slot module head.i'm waiting for Randall to release the new George Lynch "Mr Scary" module so that i can see how that is before making a decision.currently my favorite mts module is the reg "Ultra".the SL+ module isnt too bad either.i like the Krank Revolution head also, but 100 watts is way more than i'll ever use & makes it hard to achieve that power tube saturation... any other comments out there are definately welcome in regards to any of these three amp heads i've just mentioned!!!
