Enough pickup shenanigans for me, time to start thinking about a new amp.

The Bugera don't sound bad in these clips, but the Engl just crushes it on the 4th channel.

Just get a used 6505 or 6505+ and be done with it.

inexpensive, very reliable, tons of gain, and a classic/legendary sound for all sorts of metal including the heaviest kinds.

And yeah, Engls are incredibly pleasing to play. You don't even need the gobs of gain that they can provide, because they punch so hard. They put most high gain amps to shame, but they also cost an arm and a leg. I'm playing an Engl Thunder right now with my old band while I fill in on a few shows, and it is a helluva beast. Even the cleans and low-gain settings are just beautiful.

CTN is on the money. Amp selection is a personal thing, but you have to try a 5150/6505 and see if it fits the bill. If it doesn't, come back, and we'll try to set you up with something that does.

I'll second that. If you want that JFAC tone then a 6505/5150. Its the amp that defined the genre. I'm amazed how many shows I play where I'm the only one not playing one
