Envelope filters?

Hi, I must admit I'm a bit lazy and use envelope filter to produce (auto)wah sounds. I have owned a frostwave funck a duck which is great but really tricky to set and it doesn't run with standard 9V power suppply. I actually use an Ibanez AF9 but I don't obtain the sweet liquid sound I would like.
What are your own experiences with envelope fiters? What's the best you would recommend. Someone tried the agent funk from Chunk system?
Thanks.

Re: Envelope filters?

I have an Emma Discombobulator that I like a lot. I only use it to screw around once in a while but it is reliable and sounds great. Prior to that, I had a beat-up Q-Tron that sounded good, too. More dangerous/unpredictable than the Emma, but still good. Both the Emma and the EH are pretty expensive, though. I think the mini Q-Tron (a pedal that is *mini* only by EH standards) is not that expensive, relatively speaking.

I can get a decent Jerry Garcia out of the Emma, and that's why I bought it so I'm happy. There is a learning curve on envelope filters, though, not so much for the settings but more for how you play when it's on.

Re: Envelope filters?

About the learning curve and concerning the AF9 I can find some settings which are fine to play patterns but sound bad for chords and vice versa. That's one part of my problem with envelope filters.
