Hiya everyone had this baby since I was 10 treasured it although I couldn't really play it very well after a few bad lessons when I was a kid. Glad I looked after it

Luckily gave Fender play a go and really loving playing guitar again, Doing a lotta bluesy stuff, on the Epi' and on a AVRI Strat I've got

Joe Bonamassa, Freddie King, Albert King, BB King and some Jeff Beck stuff learning about more blues players as the weeks go on.

Did take it into a local shop for a nut replacement and setup something Im after re doing myself

Issues I've found so far with her are as follows, Tone Controls do nothing but on and off,
Pickup selector is crackling its head off and one isn't working when on the middle position.

Not had a look at the wiring but thinking of putting some new wiring and pickups in her,

Looking at the Joe Bonamassa Pickups but not sure what wiring to compliment it with

Question is whats everyones Fav wiring and Paf Style Pickups for a nice 59 tone? Was reading how the bridge can have an influence to and tail piece.

Anyone from the UK have recommendations supplier wise for the Wiring

Here's some mobile phone shots of her got some clips on my Instagram to of her being played into and without an amp,

if it were me, id replace the switch, pots and caps. switchcraft, quality 500k pots, .022 caps. if the jack is crappy, id replace that too while you are at it. as far as pups... there are a ton of great things out there. the bonamassa pups are cool but very expensive and depending on which model you get, you might not be happy. low output bright pups sound awesome into a cranked big bottle tweed amp but if you arent playing into a thick toned amp at stage volume, you could be pretty disappointed after having spent a lot of money. a set of 59's usually sounds great in an epi lp. seths, pearly gates, whole lotta humbuckers, and antiquitys are all paf based pups. the aph isnt quite a paf but has a familar tonality. the saturday night special is hotter than a paf but still seems to have some vintage character. the slash set is, again, hotter than a paf but not too over the top. lots of flavors of pups to choose from in that vein even just looking at the duncan production line. if you go custom shop, they can wind you whatever you want

cap value makes a difference when you use your tone control, hence my .022 suggestion. buying expensive caps seems fool hardy to me. i use orange drops or mallory 150's most of the time cause i have them laying around, they are relatively inexpensive and have decent tolerance.

i havent played the skinner burst pups but ive been told they sound bright and somewhat thin. when you are playing into tweed twins and bassmans thats a great thing and they will sound huge with good detail and clarity. through a modeling amp? not so sure
