Epiphone : China plant craftmanship

Thames

Great White Malice
Hey dudes,

Went to the local store last weekend. They received a brand spankin new Epi Dot (335) cherry red. But not the common "candy red" they usually had, but a deep, superb red/brown with natural wood grain.

Wow.. the craftmanship on those is clearly superior to the other factories! Or it is simply a "good one" ?

Anyway, it plays/sounds/feels waaay better than the other Dot (korean) they have in the store. I'd buy it right now if I could!! Seriously, any other tried the newest chinese made Epis ?

Check the body wood. I've seen some with mahogany veneers but you can see by the sides that it's alder 100%. The fretwork is better than on some gibsons, but the metal used is cheeper and wears quicker. And last time I checked, they're still using maple necks instead of mahogany.

the china factory is owned by gibson and only makes epiphones as far as i know, unlike the other factories where they also make other brand of guitars.

Well, I'm talking about DOT 335s. They are made of maple veneers. And that neck was clearly mahogany. Very nice grain.
