Epiphone Dot Deluxe

Jomo's Nimions
I’ve been posting about a bunch of guitars and whatnot lately. I sold my banjo and have a few bucks for a new guitar related toy. Found an ‘07 Dot Deluxe for a great price locally. Gonna check it out Sunday morning. Reviews seem to be mixed, but I’ve never had a 335 style, and the price is good enough to leave money left over for a Klone.

Re: Epiphone Dot Deluxe

I never used to be interested in 335 type guitars, but I must admit they have more appeal to me now. The Dot's have good reputations, so I hope it's a winner when you look at it. I love NGD with $$ left over for more toys.

Re: Epiphone Dot Deluxe

I was scrolling through Facebook Marketplace and watching Anders Osborne’s Rig Rundown last night. When he got out his ‘72 335, I stumbled upon the Dot. I’m taking it as a sign :)

Re: Epiphone Dot Deluxe

I was a 'solid body only' guy for decades, and eventually got curious about 335's, as so many great players have used them. Once I played one I was hooked. Semi-hollows just seem to naturally have rich tones, and they're actually comfortable to hold, standing or sitting.

I really like Dot Deluxes. They're basically an upgrade over Sheratons as they have flame maple tops, instead of plain maple. I've seen them in 3 finishes: tobacco burst, wine red, and natural. Most have dot fret inlays, but a few were made with small block inlays. Put a pair of good PAF's in it and I think you'll be pleased with the tones. To change PU's or pots, I use a stiff plastic-coated wire & a 6" forceps to get the pots in and out of the F hole. Some guys swear by aquarium tubing. Either way it makes it far easier to do. Not a chore at all.
