Re: Seth Lovers vs ‘59s Epiphone Dot through DRRI
Re: Seth Lovers vs ‘59s Epiphone Dot through DRRI
Hello again!
So they finally came in and wow! They are definitely vintage pickups. Almost brighter than I expected, too. I had a close buddy of mine, who graciously offered, install them in my Dot along with some new orange drops. He wired it 50’s vintage style and while I can see the tone there, now when I play through my amp, DRRI, either straight or through my pedal board, there is a prominent buzzing. Not a hum, a constant buzz. It’s definitely noticeable and wasn’t there with the stock pickups.
My question is, is this just the nature of the pickups? Perhaps because of the vintage wiring style? I play at church now and this buzz is enough of a sore point that I may consider swapping these for something else if this is just how they’re supposed to work but I doubt they would be recommended so often if this was the case. It isn’t the type of buzz that goes away when I touch the strings so I’m not sure that it’s a grounding issue. Amp has recently been serviced and biased so I don’t think it’s that causing the issue all of a sudden either.
