I dont think I ever heard anything but good reviews.. I couldnt figure why they quit making them..

They were too good compared to Gibsons at that price. Same with the first SLASH model. The Epi was a helluva instrument at 1/3 the price.

I had an elitist Les Paul. Craftsmanship was good. The guitar was the deadest, most sterile sounding thing I've ever heard. I changed the bridge, the saddles, the pickups, the pots and caps. It could take any pickup you threw in it and make it sound harsh, bright and sterile even seths and cc.

should arrive thurs! I get it first! will do a set up, add straplocks, etc. And of course, the test drive.. heh heh heh

Anybody know if the standard gibson pickguard fits these?

Arrived today. nearly mint. orig case is mint. Came in orig box, with case candy. Also a bag that has black and creme toggle knob, black rings and toggle plate, chrome rings **, spare back plates. Very nice. Guitar is slightly lighter than I expected. Im guessing 7 1/2 -8lbs.. (my Burny is 11) The frets are larger than I expected. feels great and Very resonant. Will tune and dial it in for the owner.

** About the chrome rings.. I had the owner talked into creating a JS style with it since its black with chrome hardware. So I figured we would get chrome rings and pickguard. ( I have mirror toggle ring already) So when I saw the rings with it, I was thrilled. Plus, they are metal and not the cheap plastic ones!!!

no pics yet.. have to get a camera.

Its black w/nickel hardware and creme binding and plastic pieces. Ironically it looks like the black traditional pro model Ive been wanting since they came out.) Was thinking about mirror pickguard and chrome rings, but not sure that will look good with the creme binding.

It plays very nice and has a great clean tone.. the bridge pup has a feedback hum to it tho and neck is alil muddy under gain..

Nothing sexier than a Black Les Paul Standard w/ creme appointments & gold speed knobs, in my book. Bursts of course get all the big love, but I can;t say I prefer them.

Also my avatar's black custom "standardized" is super cool- I've always wanted to modify a black Custom that way

thanks for adding those! Im at work and have limited comp use. He sent the stock gold speedknobs and I have those on it now, not the ambers that are in the picks. Plus Ive added dunlop strapbuttons..

The plan was originally to do black speed knobs, mirror guard, toggle ring, chrome pup rings and black pups. JS model. But I dont think that will look good with the creme binding... whatcha think??

I think the stock look of an ebony Std is hard to beat. To me, making those other changes would crap it up.

yeah, if the binding was white. But since its creme,this all goes together.. I did put the stock gold speed knobs one. The pups will probably end up uncovered black, but the creme stays..

Not my favorite either, but it doesnt seem as bad in person and you dont notice when playing ..And, it sound and plays so #$#% good, its kinda cool to see that stock and be reminded that it cost less than 1/3 of a gibby price
