Epiphone korina explorer and flying V

Well, these Epis are very pretty. At least in the photos/videos. And they're 1,300.

But I honestly agree to an extent to what's been said before. I have an Epi 1959 Epiphone LP which is one of the most expensive Les Paul models they sell. I also have a Gibson Les Paul Tribute which is probably the cheapest Les Paul Gibson offer. The Gibson is light years ahead of the Epi in sounding like a Les Paul. Like, no contest at all. Even with the maple neck and thinner chambered body that Studios/Tributes have, the Gibson just sounds fatter, louder, and snappier at the same time.

The Epi does look prettier, TBH. And after getting the Frets and nut done on the Epi, they feel remarkably close. And it also doesn't sound bad either. Just not very Gibson-y.

The thing about Epis is they come with TERRIBLE hardware. At least the bridges. Rattle city from parts that fit too loose, made of the cheapest materials, and a plating that wears off so easily (especially the gold).

But for 1,300, yeah. You can easily get a Studio from the good wood era that's not in bad shape. That's if you care more about tone than looks. Because Studios certainly don't look fancy.

Or you can try to find an Edwards or other Japanese copies. I don't know how those sound, but they're certainly got a reputation for being well made.

The thing about these Korina V's/Explorers is the Gibson ones are always ridiculous money. I don't know who else makes an affordable 1958 Korina V/Explorer copy nowadays? Or who made them in the past that you can buy used nowadays? Ibanez? But Eddie's Destroyer was not Korina, was it? And even if it were, they're probably crazy money because Eddie played one.

I just saw this video too, I watch trogly every morning with my coffee. I was just about to post the same video. That top looks very well matched in the center, two piece top with no veneer.
I watch his videos as well. I like how in depth he goes into tearing guitars apart. I think overall, he's a likeable dude.

He does seem a bit opinionated at times, TBH. But that may just be because I don't seem to like the same stuff he does. For starters, I don't share his taste for Norlin Gibsons. And his playing is also not great. But I still enjoy watching his stuff as well. Especially when he tears expensive guitars apart. That's always fun, LOL.

I agree he can be a bit opinionated but I've grown to enjoy him over the years, he has increased my knowledge of Gibson guitars tremendously. Definitely like his style of taking guitars apart to review them. I don't consider his playing 'bad', just not a conventional style, I do enjoy his kinda reggae- ish 70's funk inspired riffs but I like ska music so...

Trogly = trust fund kid thats afraid to show his face.

I don't think he's a trust fund kid (idk for sure) but he works at a grocery store and he started saving up money for guitars and building relationships with dealers and has now created a business getting guitars for people and flipping custom shop guitars. ive been watching his show for years since before he had all the expensive guitars on there that he does now. At least that's always been his narrative from as far as I've been watching him and matches my observations over the years.

He’s shown his face several times. I think this is what he does full time now. I do enjoy the educational aspect. I don’t care for the hunting episodes so much.

Fiction Bro, rich parents that dude has never worked a day in his life and the creep factor from his videos is uber strong.
In the same creep vein as Mitch Gallager of Sweetwater.
Grocery stores pay about $8 buck an hour [if you're lucky] hardly enough to be buying $30K worth of guitars every month.
