Epiphone Les Paul Custom, Standard and Casino

I popped into the music store today and saw that they had a couple of Epi's: standard and a custom. Picked up the custom(ebony) first and was actually blown away with the fit, feel, finish and acoustic tone. The set up was perfect(super low action with NO buzzing anywhere), neck was chunky like my R7 and the frets were perfect. I was VERY impressed. The standard on the other hand, didn't do a thing for me. First off it felt cheap, fit and finish were just ok and the neck was too thin. IMHO, it should have been no more than a $200 guitar. The last, but not least, was the Casino. Heck of a guitar! Beautiful vintage sunburst finish was nearly flawless. The neck felt wonderful even though it was a bit thin. Pups even sounded ok. My buddy is looking real close at that Casino.

i've actually been having a small case of Epi g.a.s. myself lately...i'd love to have an LP with birdseye and i don't think i'm gonna be able to swing a Gibby anytime soon!? it's gonna be either and Epi or an Agile.

Re: Epiphone Les Paul Custom, Standard and Casino

I've played some Epi Customs before and I've liked them. I would definately get the custom over the standard. Not saying the anything bad about the standard, but I've played some I've like, some I didn't. I'm tossing the idea of getting an Epi LP custom or just shelling out the cash for a Gibson LP studio. I've never played a Casino but I'd like to. Thanks for the review.

There are some tasty epi's out there. we have no idea how many fender players are talking about MIM or MIK versions...same as an epi.

bought an Epi Riviera 2 weeks ago. my best bang for the buck guitar ever. plays and sounds dangerously close to my Gibson LP which is 3 times the price. and it is flawless.
