Measure the pole-spacing on the bridge pickup, you'll probably need trem-spaced.

Re: epiphone studio les paul faded cherry what pickups would you recomend

On the Cherry Red finish, black, open bobbin 'buckers will give something of a LP Special look. Zebra bobbins or chrome covers would look more upmarket - if only for the neck/Rhythm pickup.

Your mind seems settled on the Invader for the bridge/Treble position. I suggest something with a more vintage voice for the neck/Rhythm position. e. g. Phat Cat, Pearly Gates or P-Rails.

EDIT - If you are going to play in drop tunings, consider the Gibson Tony Iommi signature HB.

i quite like the sound of all three but i dont want split coil so i think it will be a pearly gates or phat cat but that leaves me with another question how would they be like with the invader in the mid switch position

its in dropped b tuning ill be playing in

EDIT: forgot to say thanks lol

ahh so im better of measuring the string spacing first then to make sure before i do anything :/

Re: epiphone studio les paul faded cherry what pickups would you recomend

SH-6 DDJ, SH-6 current production, Dimebucker, Alt-8 in that order

I also suggest the distortion. Actually the mayhem set. The invader is fat and throaty and for CoB you need more tightness and scream. Aka. Distortion.

How do you USE the neck pickup?

If you want to do something neat, consider a full shred for the neck to mix with the Invader. Mega articulalte pup in the neck with mega treble to toss into the Invader mix for some depth/definition and highs.

Never done this - just a theory....(HAve done it with a PG/CC combo)

+1. Better choice for what he's doing. Phat Cats are dark and muffled, and a weird PU to pair with an Invader. Full Shred is a much better fit.

Measure the pole spacing.Pole Spacing 001.jpgPole Spacing 002.jpg The bridge (if trem-spaced) will be a few millimeters wider than the neck.

Re: epiphone studio les paul faded cherry what pickups would you recomend

i have looked at the full shred and from the reviews and sound clips i can find im very tempted to go for one of them in the neck from what iv heard they are the exact sound im after

Re: epiphone studio les paul faded cherry what pickups would you recomend

im not sure but the guy give me some evil snotty look i was half tempted to hit him the way he spoke so i wont be going there again be worth the extra 4-5 miles to talk to someone who gives you some respect and not like an idiot because of what your into or what you wear (usual black denim jacket cargo pants and a trillby btw lol) i respect every ones choice why do some people not do the same yea you look like a fifteen year old pop groupie but that's your choice god some people just get right on your nerves

Re: epiphone studio les paul faded cherry what pickups would you recomend

When someone in a music store acts like an ass like that I usually laugh and ask for the manager if they are the only store nearby that have what I want. Otherwise, I walk out on the clueless arrogant little bastard. I've posted in a few threads about measuring only because I want people to be happy with their choices. Nothing worse than getting the wong part and having to wait.

Re: epiphone studio les paul faded cherry what pickups would you recomend

The TRUTH about Gibson:

trem or normal should work, and neither is perfect. Trem spaced is more important for the bridge. Honestly, with the invader poles, I don't think it will matter either.

That said - can't hate on measure. Too easy NOT to do it. It's your guitar - do as much as it takes to make you happy.

Re: epiphone studio les paul faded cherry what pickups would you recomend

yea lucky its an extortionate private owned shop that im defo not getting the guitar from there eg, they have a stag l100 for £450 and £15 for a set of strings and im defo gonna measure em better safe then sorry
