Epiphone Truss Rod

I recently purchased an Epiphone Les Paul and have been adjusting the truss rod. There wasn't enough relief in the neck so I loosened the rod using an allen wrench. It didn't seem to help all that much and I noticed that the more I loosened it the nut became tighter again. So turning the nut gets tighter in both directions. Is it possible there is a dual action truss rod in the epiphone? Thanks

Re: Epiphone Truss Rod

How did you wait for the neck to adjust for the tension? Sometimes it may take a day or two for the change to happen.

Re: Epiphone Truss Rod

Thanks for responding. I loosened it by turning it counter clockwise and then re-tuned the strings. I then manually flexed the neck a little bit, but it didn't seem to have more relief. I am using a feeler gauge under the 6th fret with a capo at the first, and pushing down at the fret where the neck meets the body. It gets loose for around 1/2 turn going counter clockwise and then starts to tighten again. When it started to tighten again I measured and it had more relief. It seems to get loose and can be tightened in both directions. I let it settle overnight and I will check it again tonight, but why would it get tight turning it counterclockwise? I have also read about oiling it how would I do that? Just put some oil around the allen adjusment and let it seep it with guitar standing neck up?

Thanks again.
