Epiphone Ultra-339 in Pelham Blue has me gaaaaaasin'

Re: Epiphone Ultra-339 in Pelham Blue has me gaaaaaasin'

I've been impressed by the Chinese Epi's I've seen and own. I prefer them to Koreans.

Yes, and more consistent. Quality of old MIK Epis are all over the place. Some or gems, some are crap. With the new Chinese Epis built in Gibson's own factory, quality has always been great.

For those that don't like the Ultra version with the extra electronics:

Same guitar without the nanomag pickup, tuner, and USB and stereo outputs.

Personally, I liked the nanomag that was in my LP Ultra II, so I'd probably go for the Ultra version. Not sure about the $300 difference though ... but, if it means being able to swap pickups with an access panel instead of through f-holes I'm all for it (notice the missing f-hole on the ultra).

Btw, the EQ on the back panel is solely for the nanomag, so you typically set the acoustic sound you want and maybe tweak it occasionally, but that's it. Battery compartment is there as well, which is handy. The reason for this being on the back is that they wanted to keep the traditional appearance of the 4 knobs on top. Same for the LP Ultra version.

One of the four knobs on top is for the nanomag volume, one for master tone, the others are volume for the standard pickups. The nanomag volume is also a push/push pot to select between the nanomag options.
