EQ Pedal Fun?

Have you ever used an EQ pedal to fake another pickup? For instance, turning up the treble range and dipping the mids and bass (mids dipped a bit more than bass), to get a more single coil type tone out of a fat humbucker? Or sculpting the EQ more like that of a high output humbucker, for better distorted tones?

I've been messing around with this a little bit. It's really interesting and fun to play around with. But of course, an EQ pedal behind a good distortion pedal is the best. With a good flat distortion and an EQ, it's pretty easy to approximate the tone of a Mesa Boogie or a Marshall.

Does anyone else play with this stuff a lot? Ever since I started listening to the EQ of different pickups, distortion cutoff frequencies, and post-clipping EQ, I've been having lots of fun.

Re: EQ Pedal Fun?

I have a 10-band graphic EQ and a parametric EQ, and when I have either of them hooked up, I get carried away with tweaking those things.
