I'm thinking of picking up an EQ pedal. to help with the shared eq of my dsl40c. Both of these brands seem to set the standard. I don't have much experience with eq pedals. So who uses what and which would work the best?
I have both the MXR 10 and the Boss GE-7. I believe the MXR is a better eq pedal and it’s what I’ll
use when I’m trying to fine tune something, but I find myself throwing the Boss on when I’m noodling or messing around and need a slight bump or cut in frequency. Neither pedal disappoints.
Keep in mind that the MXR 10-band runs off 18v wall-power only.
For the loop I'd suggest the Boss-eq7 or the MXR-10 due to them both having level controls.
The newer silver-version MXRs are true-bypass also, and supposedly less noisy than the blacks.
I bought a used black 10-band MXR. I figured I’d put it in the effects loop (all my amps have them), and the 18V power supply was included. I haven’t plugged it in yet.
I have a ten band EQ the black one and they’re a very powerful tool, at the moment mine just acts as a volume boost while fattening the lows and and taking off some high end sizzle for when I’m doing a solo or less work
I run mine in the loop
A common complaint with the boss ge7 is that it adds hiss even if the bands are in the -ve range. There are mods to fix it but not sure if the new ones suffer from that issue too. The mxr 10 band is a safer bet between these two.
