EQ placement

Where in the chain would I put an eq? I assume it'd go in the guitar direct chain with OD/dist/noise gate pedals. But before the NS-2 or after? Before or after wah? Right before amp? Right after guitar? I just don't know. Thanks.

With EQ, you can put it anywhere....

...but I've found it works best immediatly before or after gain, so either;
- right before or after a distortion pedal,
- last in the chain before the preamp, or
- first in the chain in the effects loop.

When using it before gain, I like to use it to boost frequencies, and when using it after I like to cut frequencies.
