hi im not doing this any time soon i'm just curious i heard that eric clapton has a mid boost in his guitar i just wanted to know how he did it like is there a circuit board or does it have something to do with capacitors how would i do this to a guitar

Re: eric clapton mid boost

yes there is a circuit board. its a little smaller than a credit card and needs 9v power.

the boost in claptons guitars is actually two boost circuits. one is an always on 12db clean boost, the other is a 12db adjustable mid boost. its a cool unit with the right setup. i like it best with tweed and marshall plexi type circuits over bf/sf fender circuits but thats just me. i also dont like the tbx tone control so just use a standard 250k/.02 tone circuit

Re: eric clapton mid boost

I put a Clapton midboost in one of my Strats. It gets things LOOOOOOUUUUUUUDDDDDDD! LOL

Noiseless single coils are a must. I had a Duncan APS-1 in the bridge of that Strat and the noise was crazy.

Re: eric clapton mid boost

i wired up a guitar with surfers and shielded the hell out of the guitar and it wasnt too noisy at all but i do use noiseless singles now. classic stack + neck and middle with a vintage hot stack bridge.

Re: eric clapton mid boost

i have a few strats with duncan stacks but the white hw1 alder body, maple mij neck strat with the cs+ neck and middle and vhs+ bridge has the clapton mid boost in it yes

Re: eric clapton mid boost

I've always wanted to try one with hb's or tele pups... Had the pleasure of playing a strat with that setup years ago through my bassman and wow it sounded great.....
