Best be saving your pennies for this one I think...

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

ive never been a fan of that sort of tobacco burst finish...so at least i wont be gassing over this one! lol

awesome video though

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

I get the sense with that one, that within minutes, you'd forget the guitar, the music would just take over and time would become rather surplus to requirements.

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

I personally do not care for the sound or look of this guitar very much.
This one, however, I like more. Not enough to gas over though.

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

Surprised no one has come along to say that the Strat sucks because it has a three piece body :P. The neck is probably gorgeous - unlacquered, soft fat V profile.

Don't care for the LP, personally; that muddy neck pu...

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

Clapton is so boring. His tone is boring, his choice of notes is boring, he is boring. His guitars after Beano are equally boring, too.

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

I've watched the Strat video about 5 times now. Do want.

Not sure I'd describe anything Clapton does as boring though (certainly not anything on electric guitar).

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

Man, Clapton is such a legend! It is great to hear his stories - especially about these guitars specifically. I love how people bash him based on silly youtube videos...CMON FOLKS! He has contributed so much to music. What a real dude!

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

I'm not a big Strat fan, but Brownie and Rory Gallagher's Strat were always my favorite's

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

I love Strats.... I love Les Pauls, I love 335's, I love Teles...... For me its really a matter of picking the appropriate guitar that is going to offer a good tone for the particular tone you are looking to get. BUT....... I think playing Strats are just more fun. There are times that a Les Paul is right, but there are times when a Strat is right.

I agree Dave. You're more of a Strat guy than I am, but "the right guitar for the right job" definitely applies.

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

I've always had a soft spot for Brownie. Blackie might have been the better player, but to me Brownie had the tone. Just go back and listen to the Dominoes live album. Brownie sounded fantastic.

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

I also don't care much for the two tone (tobacco) burst finish. My fav is the Sienna burst. But I do like Eric's tone and playing, much more so with Blackie, however.

Re: Eric Clapton's "Brownie"

I also agree with Clapton that the maple neck feels so much better than rosewood, especially when bending.
