Has anyone here seen Eric Clapton's new Custom Fender Stratocaster on the cover of the newest guitar player? Dear god! How ugly can the paint job be?? Whats the point of it? Is there like a theme to it or is it just plain ugly? I cant stand it! Oh well this is just my opinion though, im just wondering what other fellow guitarists think!

Clapton is a graffitti collector. He sees the art in graffitti and collects it as art. I think that's where the graphics for that paint job came from. If you think about it, that's not the first ax he's had painted up...there was the SG he played with Cream too. Lew

i agree with jolly on that one, although i think the maroon gives it a different kind of look. i kind of find it intersting. not sure if id buy it but its interesting.

That elicits an ugly vote from me. Not my speed at all. YMMV!

Yeah...I agree. I like the black with the gold paisley better. Tho that's a little weird looking too! There are some guys who are nuts for these Burton Teles tho. There's a Burton Tele white model too that I've seen...it's cream colored, but it looks kinda plain without a pickguard. Lew

Actually, I really liked Clapton's new axe. It is very different. For the man that has had every guitar under the sun, I guess he has to go with something that is one of a kind.

So what does this new guitar look like anyway? I haven't seen it.

It's kinda like the old SG, only not as cool looking. It has a mural, with sections of color (light blue, burnt red) and a section that looking like a tiger or zebra.

Man, I seriously wished I didn't see this. Even before this forum, I was gassin for one and totally forgot about them things! (James Burton Tele, the black one)

They're nice guitars...like a hard tail Strat in a way. I wonder if James still uses the Lace Sensor pickups? Alot of guys have gone to something else, like the Fender Noiseless pickups. I guy brought a Strat in the other day with the Fender noiseless pickups...he wanted to compare it to some of my Strats with Duncans and Fralins. I was surprised that I didn't hate the Fender Noiseless Strat pickups! They're not for me, but the tone wasn't bad at all...at least through the little 50's Gibson GA-20 amp we keep in the shop. Back to the JB Tele, I have the MIM version...it's like a regular Tele, but the neck is great and I like the medium frets on it better than the little vintage frets Fender used. Lew

Honestly lew. I think those Nioseless pups are just a damn gimmick to make the customer think they are getting all the frills. I'd rather have Blue velvets by Dimarzio.
