Eric gales style?

I have been listening to a lot of Eric gales lately. His fast runs sound sorta pentatonic but unique and I cannot figure what he is doing. He also has the coolest chord voicings I have ever heard. I love how he does the chord...run to the next chord, chords...runs to the next chord. Can anyone offer me any advice regarding his style and how I could incorporate some of it in to my playing?

Thanks guys!

Re: Eric gales style?

I think sometimes the whole lefty/righty upside down thing applies a subtle enough shift to the way Eric or Jimi attacked the strings, and it usually puts a different perspective on ascending or descending runs, and chord voicings. Sorry I can't help, just an observation. :)

One thing I noticed was his huge use of vibrato and his picking technique gave him a lot of his tone. He uses a soft attack and he's VERY clean-playing especially at that speed.

He knows all his chords, scales, arpeggios, substitutions and progressions. He plays bluesy style because he likes to play that way, not because that's all he knows.
Look into learning how to play from a jazz perspective. Its all about that stuff that you can't figure out right now including chord substitutions, embellishment, progressions, chord melody....the list goes on...
