Eric Johnson Jazz III picks

StrangeSound

Hi guys,

I ordered some new picks and I went for the EJ ones. I didn't like small picks in the past but I see the advantage now.

I'm really surprised how good they sound. I used the red Jazz XL picks in the past and compared it to the EJ pick. My bro heared the difference too and also prefers the EJ.

If you like to test a new pick, check these out!

I too am a recent convert.. I used orange tortexs for years, didnt like small picks.. Tried these again and now I cant play with the tortexs anymore. my accuracy improved so much.. Sadly, I really wanted to like the Black Jazz IIIs cuz I prefer black and most of my guitars are black, but the reds just feel better..

Re: Eric Johnson Jazz III picks

Yes I have a couple. But they seem too skinny and not rough enough after the JIIIs. I still use regular red jazz 3s, and sometimes the large jazz 3s.

Re: Eric Johnson Jazz III picks

I'm curious about this myself. I can't find any of the EJ Jazz III's in my area and I don't wanna order them and not like 'em.

Picture this. A regular fender pick. Reduce the size by about 60%. Very stiff but not as thick as a jazz III. Very smooth. Pointier than a regular pick.

So, it's smaller than your typical Jazz III? Otherwise, sounds pretty good. Not diggin' the sound of "smoother" but, I might have to order some now and give 'em a shot.

Re: Eric Johnson Jazz III picks

The EJ Jazz III's are physically the same size as the Jazz III's. They are a little thinner than the regular Jazz III's and softer feeling material, which is nice and it helps reduce picking noise. I like the regular Jazz III's to practice with but when playing out live, I use Fender Heavy or Medium.

Re: Eric Johnson Jazz III picks

Jazz III picks overall are very fun to play with. I use them when I want to facilitate some extra-speedy runs and need a bit more accent to alternate picked/metalish stuff.

Cool, man. Appreciate the info, that's what I was looking for!

Re: Eric Johnson Jazz III picks

I go back to the Jazz IIIs when I feel my picking getting sloppy, but switch back to the Tortex sharps after a day or two.

Re: Eric Johnson Jazz III picks

I strictly use the dunlop tortex jazz pitchblack's in .88.

tried the EJ's. they were good but I prefer the response of the tortex picks. ;)

small picks ftw!

Re: Eric Johnson Jazz III picks

sounds cool, though i've recently started using planet waves black ice picks. they're like a cross between those giant fender triangle/bubble picks in a jazz pick size, are the same material as tortex picks, and come in... .55, .8 and something thicker:dunno: currently i've been using the .55.
