ErikH made me do it....

Re: ErikH made me do it....

i played one of those in london last year and it was frickin awesome! the neck, the frets, the action, everything screamed perfection!

shame it's not a strat with a recessed trem :P

nice score man

Re: ErikH made me do it....

tone: LOL no i didn't get it yet i jsut got word it shipped to me (from one state over) today so if i'm REAL lucky i will get it tomorrow if not then Wed. would be my guess. i'll take lots of good pics when i get it. i have the d-tuna here ready to go when i do the first setup also lol.

Erik: you know me man, i think Ed's best tone came from the musicman guitars! yes it's still your fault LOL.

StratTom: thanks.

Davey: the necks are killer and that's why i use the same finish on all my Clone necks...there's NOTHING faster feeling. no need for recessed floyds, i like the added fulness in tone that you get from the floyd resting on the body. plus i rest my hand on the trem and on floaters i have to remind myself not to have a heavy hand so i don't pull it sharp by accident.

Re: ErikH made me do it....

For the record..............again.............. I didn't make him do it. :6: :lmao:

That is such an awesome looking guitar. I'm listening to For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge now and man, I just love the stuff he pulled off with that axe.

sure you didn't :) Your the G.A.S. man :) !!!! ha ha ha ha

I can't decide if i want an axis with a floyd or the one with a Piezo Bridge system

:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: Our true resident G.A.S. man hasn't been around very much. Yes, I mean JeffB. :laugh2: :laugh2:

Go with the floyd model. ;)

Re: ErikH made me do it....

speaking of which,

what ARE the differences in the Floyd and vintage bridge models.
I would also go with the floyd model as well, but the vintage bridge has GOT to have a better tone.

you guys play both??

Re: ErikH made me do it....

I never played one of the vintage bridge models so I can't say. I believe the differences are just that, the bridge type, everything else being the same......this pertains to the dual humbucker model. The P-90 model has an ash body.

Re: ErikH made me do it....

There most likely is. How much I have no idea. Probably very little because the floyd is flush mounted to the body like the vintage trem.

Re: ErikH made me do it....

getting an axis without the floyd is like buying a les paul WITH a kahler.....just pointless and WRONG!!!

everyone gets all wet in the pants when they think of Ed's tone and well...the man uses a floyd!!!!

Re: ErikH made me do it....

got to congratulate you :D nice axe even though i just hate the looks of ernie ball guitars and i prefer hardtails to any other bridges...
but hey, if YOU like it - i'm happy with you man:bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb:

i'm a huge Fan of Ed's and Floyd Roses too...... I own a few Floyds that is for sure.... another player i like named Kim Mitchell uses the Axis models with the Piezo bridges and he gets some nice sounds for sure with his JCM 800 rig... sends the piezo's to the pa... I love Piezo's so i just may go that route oneday... But a big part of me wants the floyd for sure... i'm building a custom Wolfgang right now.... i have the neck and body.... next is tuners Floyd and pickups.. An Axis with a Floyd would be a great guitar to add to my fleet... then i'd have 2 EVH designed axes with Floyds of course...
