Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinkies: Impressive!

I have a bit of a 'problem' guitar in my Jackson SLX; love the way it plays/sounds, but it's always been very quiet unplugged, and that affects the dynamic range... Sustain is also lacking. Pinch harmonics are far harder to squeeze out than any of my other guitars. Figured I'd need a new block at least for the Floyd Special...

The Cobalt Slinky 9s really did it though. MUCH louder, harmonics behave as they should now, much more bass in particular. Maybe not for every guitar, but def. what this one needed. They apparently work as advertised.

How do they change the EQ of the guitar?

Re: Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinkies: Impressive!

I really like the Ernie Ball Cobalts, take a little bit of an adjustment to the feel though...sounded great too. I've switched to D'Addarios but if I were to go with any other brands on my electric it would be the EB Cobalts.

Re: Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinkies: Impressive!

EQ gives a lot more bass and perhaps sounds a bit more scooped than what I came from, which were Regular Slinkies. I've also tried Ernie Ball Nickels on this guitar, Dadarrios (both NY and XL I think,) DRs... All 9s. So I'm comparing to those, not other strings advertised to really give huge tone or use special technology etc.

What's the price of these in the US?

Re: Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinkies: Impressive!

That isn't a bad price, actually. I was thinking they'd be the price of coated strings.
