ES 335 harness problem

Please help me out on this:

I swapped out the harness of my Tokai ES 335 and put in new one. The leads from the pickups are vintage style braided wires. Sometimes these little buggers touch the toggle switch and cause cut outs. A quick touch thru the f holes can correct this, but its a PIA.
What can i do?
Slide some silcone tube over the leads? or
Wrap electric tape around the toggle?

What's the better idea or what else comes to your mind?

Re: ES 335 harness problem

Slide some heat shrink over the pickup leads. Don't worry about heating to shrink it as it's not necessary. I've had to do that a couple times. Electrical tape can work, too, but it's more of a pain in the ass. I'd leave the toggle alone. I'd be afraid of the tape interfering with it's function.

+1 on insulating the pickup cable braid rather than any part of the selector switch.

I don't like braided 'push-back' wire, for that reason. I'll have problems in my solid body guitars, and will put a small piece of bubble wrap in the cavity to make sure the braided wire doesn't move and short something out. You could do the same thing in a 335.
