ESP Edwards priced like Grassroots!

Re: ESP Edwards priced like Grassroots!

those 'discounted' prices are for used instruments. how to look out for it? click on the link and you will find 2 chinese characters. first one is like a square with a straight line running vertical through it and the second is like a + with a square under it.

edwards did make a few 'limited edition' like beck's tele-gib and srv's strat. they do not have edward's logo on the headstock.

kherman, do you actually own one ?

Proud Edwards owner talking. :D See sig.

Re: ESP Edwards priced like Grassroots!

BTW dudes, I emailed almost *every* Jap stores when I was ready to buy, and I think buying from eBay is still the fastest, safest and easiest way to find Edwards guitars.

Personaly, I wouldnt give my CC info over the phone/email to a Jap salesperson, nothing against the Japs, its just about distance and communications

i have a edwards goldtop with sd vintage p-90s. the guitar kicks major behinds. it beats all the epis i have tried and some gibbys too. quality of build is fantastic especially if you consider the price vs a gibson. not to mention gibson's quality control is a bit suspect.

my only gripe with my edwards? its really light for a lp-type guitar. that may actually be a plus to others ya?

my 0.02,
dani

Re: ESP Edwards priced like Grassroots!

Well.. mine is actually HEAVY! About 11.x lbs!

I still cant believe how this guitar resonates so much with that Poly finish. I plan to sand the sides and back first, and have it finished in nitro. Then, probably the top too, but I dont want to ruin the color/flames by sanding it.

funny, mine wasn't heavy at all. btw, edwards do have the lacquer top series. essentially the same as the original but finished with nitro. i wonder if its the whole guitar or just the top hence the term 'lacquer top'.

Re: ESP Edwards priced like Grassroots!

good question on the laquer top...i wonder how much of it is laquer...i would guess the whole thing, why only paint the top, that would be odd...but ya never know. the one i posted that i may buy in the future is from the laquer top series...hence the LTS in the product name/number.

No.
But, I would love to add one at some time.
I like the Japan guitars in general.
I love my Diodati. Japan made. Tokai Hamamatsu factory.
I'd like to get a bunch of different Japan replica brands.
Tokai
Burny
Orville
Greco
Ornetts
Etc...

I really like the ESP japan made guitars. I'd love to add a Horizon Custom neck thru to my collection someday. The Edwards Horizon fits the bill too. So, I may go that route when and if I ever get around to getting one.

I just have a great respect for Japan guitars. I've own high end Ibanez guitars and Jackson professional series guitars. They were great guitars.
But, you know how it goes. Get GAS and something has to go.
I think back and wish I would have hung onto those guitars.
Just to have them in the collection.

Re: ESP Edwards priced like Grassroots!

I believe only the top is a lacquer. Neck, back, and sides would be poly on the Edwards Lacquer top. Doesn't say whether it's a Acrylic or Nitro lacquer either.

I personally prefer a Polyurethane or Acrylic Lacquer finish over Nitro.
Nitro is just to sticky for me.

Plus, many of the new poly finishes coming out are much thinner than what they were.
