ESP - LTD EC-1000 T/CTM

Seeking opinions on these guitars. These are the ones that are a bit thicker than normal. I've played a few LTD Elites and 1000s and they seem like really nice guitars. I can't find anywhere in Chicago to try one of these though, and I have my eye on a black one. I'm interested in if anyone has tried one and what your thoughts are. For reference, this is what I'm talking about.

Thanks.

Haven't played this version specifically but I've owned an ec-1000 for 5-6 years and it was a killer guitar.
Nothing bad to say about it except that after I bought my first Gibson the narrower nut width bothered me a bit...

Re: ESP - LTD EC-1000 T/CTM

I have an Amberburst Ec-1000 and I love it!!!!

I'm probably not as big and strong as you guys so I really didn't like Gibson Les Pauls. I also haven't ever owned a guitar with EMG pickups. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the JB and 59 in my ESP!!!

I really like that black. It would go with anything I might wear. :18:

I had one and it was a great guitar!! I loved it! feels closer to a reg LP than that normal Ec1000 because it didnt have the belly cut and stuff. I planned to take out the emgs and put in other pups, but had to pawn it to keep the lights on

Re: ESP - LTD EC-1000 T/CTM

They are great guitars. The added cost versus the 500 series is the tonepros bridge, ebony fretboard and locking tuners. It may have the thicker body, but the old 1000s didn't and were at the same price point.
I have the same guitar in black, only a 500 model. I don't dig the gold hardware on that one personally and like the smoke nickel better on mine. I also don't miss the tonepros, locking tuners or ebony board since my 500 sounds and plays killer as is at the lesser price level ($700 new I believe, got mine for $400 used)

Agreed. That was my problem with most ESP/LTD...they love that 1 5/8 Nut Width. Unfortunately my hands don't.

Re: ESP - LTD EC-1000 T/CTM

Thanks guys. I should probably at least see if I can try an Elite or 1000 somewhere in Chicago. That will give me an idea if the nut width is okay for me as I'd think they are the same. I have played some in the past, and they seemed fairly comfortable though.

What problems did the nut width cause you? Just generally uncomfortable?

Re: ESP - LTD EC-1000 T/CTM

I like 1.68 or whatever and found the 1000 too thin. My 500 is apparently the same, but feels a little more comfortable than the 1000 for some weird reason.

Oh it was nothing problematic per say and as I've said many times: if i was forced to sell my gibsons and buy something priced lower, I wouldn' hesitate and get me another one of these in a heartbeat.
I just came to like the extra width a bit more on the gibsons that's all... It really just came down to preference but there's nothing wrong playability and comfort-wise with the slightly narrower nut on the ltds...
