ESP Ltd EC-400VF, Anybody Have One?

Re: ESP Ltd EC-400VF, Anybody Have One?

Are the scale lengths on these guitars the same as on Gibsons? The more of them I see the more I like them, I would just have to find a way to rearrange and add one knob so that I could do Jimmy Page wiring..

Ehhhh, no, they aren't. Fenders are 25 1/2. PRS 25". Gibson FOR YEARS has advertised their guitars as 24 3/4", but they are a tad shorter, I think 24 9/16. That's why PRS created the PRS 24.5 Single Cut to get closer to the vintage Les Paul tone.

This scale length is critical to a Les Paul's tone, which is why it's easier to get a Les Paul tone out of any Gibson (Explorer, Flying V, SG), than it is out of a Les Paul-type copy with a 24 3/4" scale length.

I don't know what scale length Epiphone uses- they advertise 24 3/4, but I don't know if they may use 24 9/16 as well.

There is one at my local guitar shop that keeps calling my name. Very nice axe. Plays wonderfully. It is a big hunk of wood. Great pups.

Beware, there is quality variablility in LTDs. I have played some dogs-poor construction to just no mojo. But most are very good to my low serial number H-500 which "plays itself" with fit and finish on par with regular Japanese ESPs.

mine is heavy as a tank and sustains like a banshee. build is great, tone pros, duncan jb/59, grovers, earvana nut. wow

I received it today and my initial thoughts so far is WOW! The guitar is absolutely beautiful and the figuring is pretty impressive as well considering the price and the photos on musiciansfriend and other sites do not do it justice. The workmanship is some of the best i have seen even on newer Gibson's. Once i get it setup i'll post some pics but so far im happier than a virgin on prom night.

Re: ESP Ltd EC-400VF, Anybody Have One?

Well I got the guitar setup yesterday morning and im extremely happy with it. It sounds incredible and the stock JB/59 pickup combo was a good choice for this guitar. I was kinda figuring i would have to replace that Earvana compensated nut but it does work pretty well. One of the first things that strike me about the guitar is the quality, its well made and pretty much flawless. The figured top is pretty impressive too considering the price. I know alot of people have mentioned how heavy it is but it feels light after holding some of my older Gibson's and has a slightly brighter tone. The tailpiece kept binding in the studs so i had to file them slightly to get them to turn when coupled with the tailpiece but im replacing it and the bridge with TonePros. The electronics are pretty cheap as well but do function properly but they will be getting replaced as soon as everything arrives. All in all i think the guitar is well worth the price if not more to be honest. Here are some pics!!!!
