esquire hotrod schematic

Re: esquire hotrod schematic

Ok, see if this makes sense. The first one is in schematic form, the second is more of diagram form. They're both the same electrically. See the notes at the end.

Notes:

1. The "blue" terminals are all shorted together. It doesn't matter what order you connect the wires.

2. The "red" line from the pup refers to the red/white combo. Connect both.

3. For standard Esquire wiring, both caps are .05uf and the resistor is 3.3k (3300 ohms) A .047uf is more common but feel free to use any value you want for the one on the tone control. A .022uf will preserve more midrange when rolled off. A .033uf is a nice compromise.

Let me know if you have any questions.

nice!
hm maybe it's not really useful to have a fifth position which would sound awful (muffled?), so a 4way switch would do (the same without the fifth position)

Re: esquire hotrod schematic

and i think i'll prefer a 0.033.

i'm not an electrician (but a buddy of mine is), so i really don't know what the schematic above does.. but if it's the 4way thing it would be perfect. if the 5way thing requires some extra modifications (capacitors or something..), then it really ain't necessary, it was more like a wannahavethingie... :)

Re: esquire hotrod schematic

To do it with a standard 4-way, and to eliminate that 5th position, just do this:

Re: esquire hotrod schematic

so that will give me access to tone/no-tone full/splitted sounds? tnx!

gonna ask my friend whether he understands this schematic or not.

TNX ALOT!!

Re: esquire hotrod schematic

Actually, thats not a schematic, its a diagram. Take a Fender 4-way and look at the bottom. Point the handle away from your eyes. Those four squares then become the lugs on the bottom. Like the way the whole thing looks as you look at the bottom of the Tele control plate.

If you don't mind waiting, I'll redraw it in a way thats closer to the Duncan diagrams. But thats a lot of work - and its Saturday night. :D

Re: esquire hotrod schematic

i don't mind waiting, as long as you don't mind making.. :)

but it actually helps when the schematic is more 'visual'.

and which switch will do? i don't know a stock 4way switch.

And this Fender superswitch made me a little confused. The description of the switch is:

Pickup Selector Switches Super Switch 4-Position 5-Way

well, does it do 4 way to or only 5?

Re: esquire hotrod schematic

You definitely want a Fender 4-way. It will make the job neater. Like this:

I'll try to get that drawing later today. Maybe tomorrow.

Re: esquire hotrod schematic

the drawing would be quite handy indeed, but he is 90% sure of how it should be soldered (must see a 4way swtich in reallife first)
