I think this is the deal...hopefully I'm not full of crap.

1. Pickup with tone rolled all the way off...allegedly to allow the guitarists of the early 1950's to do bass parts as well. You might like it.

2. Regular--tone control works.

3. Tone control bypassed...hotter and really kicks in nice for solos.
