Essential Stompboxes?

Re: Essential Stompboxes?

I dunno, another poster here once told me that half the dudes that talk **** on here couldn't get a decent tone with anything because they haven't learned how to tweak and setup what they've already got.

I feel like I can get a useable tone out of almost anything.

What do I know, I'm actually a drummer... and a pretty ****ty guitar player.

Re: Essential Stompboxes?

I wish someone would make a better HM-2 set to chainsaw clone. Other than that most of thes boutique dudes can lick ace's finger.

What's wrong with a TS9 anyway?

A friend of mine who's moving to chicago is trying to build an HM2 clone like that....basically the swedish setting but he wants to add boost/od to the box as well....he's either going to call it the Dark Recollection or the Left Hand Pedal.....

Re: Essential Stompboxes?

Two obvious answers...

-All of them
-None of them

However, for me I like a couple fuzzes (Analogman Sunface and Muff Clone), a Small Stone style Phaser, a couple if delays (one for shorter repeats, one for ambient) and a reverb for ambient stuff. When I do VH style I grab my MXR Flanger, and I like a volume for swells into the delay/reverb combo. I obviously have many, MANY more pedals than this, but those are for fun and special cases.

Does he know what he's doing? I've got that FX56 I would donate to make that happen. It's the same circuit minus the two band EQ. I was thinking you could take the signal out somewhere early and have a wet/dry mix, kinda like a sparkle drive. I think that might help with the clarity, but still have the overall swedish chainsaw sound.

None of the pedal modders will even return my emails about this.

Bill usually mangles a pedal or two before he figures out exactly what he's doing with his mods, he has tons of parts so I wouldn't sweat it....I've never seen anyone horde busted pedals for parts like he does....

He just finished up his bassman build, two channels, second sounds like a bassman juiced with a distortion +...........

Re: Essential Stompboxes?

That's what I've been told, I don't know about the FX56B, which is what you've got if you've got the two band EQ.

Re: Essential Stompboxes?

For me its a tube screamer, preferably a modded TS9 run into a analogman ross clone compressor. Everything after that is gravy
