Evan or anyone, do you know what the pickups are in the Fender Custom Shop, Charvelle San Dimas guitars?? I may be getting one and I'd like to know more specifics. I just see they are custom wound for them.

Thanks

I'm not sure what they're putting in the San Dimas. I know they used the 78 Model in their Anniversary guitar. I also know they use Custom 5s a lot too. I would suggest checking with the Fender Custom Shop.

"Charvel".... AFAIK the fender "custom" wound one was only available in the EVH art series. Zerb could set me straight on this one.

As Evan said the 25th anniversary had a '78 and alot of the San Dimas standard series have custom 5's. I'm not sure what was in the limited edition bullseye.

This axe is a black/grey snakeskin, 2006, maple neck with standard trem. Pretty cool looking. I think I'm trading my McCarty for it.

Thanks for the info guys. I've e-mailed Fender, hope to get a response.

Sweet, I think I might go with the Fred in bridge and a Hubucker From Hell in the neck. My other idea was a Demon in bridge and a Jazz or '59 in neck. I have no experience with the Demon and was kinda hoping you guys could enlighten me on it a little more in contrast to the Fred. I see more metal dudes on Harmony Central liking the Demon more over the Fred and I kinda want to make sure I'm not missing something really good. Some guy said the Fred makes his 5150 sound like a Big Muff pedal or something, I would not want that!

Because that is where "Bill and Ted" had the Excellent Adventure...:cool2:
The Original Grover Jackson era..Charvels were made there. They moved somewhere else not long after.
Grover Jackson, Mike Shannon and the other guy who I can not remember, the #2 guy...who were the top 3 guys for Years.
I am not certain Grover really built anything:cool2:
From 1977 Guitar Player Magazines...Charvel's replacement pups were made by Seymour..right before or close to the same time he started to advertise his own creations.

...So Fender is using that name the same way EH puts Tungsol on it tubes..

Man did I read that question Wrong..Ok, stepping away from the Crack Pipe:banghead:

actually i was talking about the guy talking about the Humbucker from hell and the fred etc etc. sorry if i didnt elaborate

Re: Evan - Charvelle San Dimas pickups?

most of the standard Charvel sandimas (fender's ) i have seen have JB's in em.. but i have only seen about 12

Re: Evan - Charvelle San Dimas pickups?

The majority I've noticed have C5's. Evan said it spot on. Anywho, the Music Zoo's inventory (for one) largely consists of the SH-14 in 'em, esp. all of their 'special oiled series' makes.

Haven't heard back from Fender. That's cool if it is a C-5, kind of sounds like it may be. I had one in my old LP DC and I thought it was a bit too scooped. I would imagine they would have done some serious testing to see if this was the right pickup choice for this axe. I'm still anxious to try it out.

Has anyone played one of these guitars? Opinions?? Just curious really.
