Evan or Frank: Slash using new PU here?

Re: Evan or Frank: Slash using new PU here?

...last i heard he was using the Vintage Modern

Yep. For Velvet he was using a mix of his Signature, a Jubilee, and the VM. I thought this sounded like the VM, but what do I know.

Heck, maybe he's using a prototype of the new AFD Marshall? :scratchch

Actually I thought the singing wasn't bad, in fact it was the best thing about it. The song was pretty bad and Slash ? He sounds like a million guys I've seen in a million bars. There are plenty of guys that can play a thousand notes a second and there are some guys that can play a few notes and sound great. Slash is neither of these things.
Can those guys you mentioned write a hit song?

Re: Evan or Frank: Slash using new PU here?

Actually Slash only rolled back the volume when Appetite was out. He didn't have millions of amps and a stage crew doing his switching.

And yea like someone already said thats the Appetite guitar so its probably the new pickups. He never uses his Les Paul copy live anymore because it is his baby. It's a recording guitar so that is the new guitar with new pickups.

What new pickups?

Re: Evan or Frank: Slash using new PU here?

Slash confirmed via his Twitter account that he was indeed using the new replica LP and pickups...:D

Well, yeah...but you're talking about bars, land of the under the radar badass. When factoring in celebrity handicap, Slash is a pretty good player. :14:

Re: Evan or Frank: Slash using new PU here?

I thought the singer was fine, I just don't like the sound of his voice. Just a preference there. Yeah, Slash does sound like everybody else, but I gotta admit he has a dynamic that a lot of people don't have and a presence as well. Like seeing that sunburst Les Paul means Page, Cherry sunburst means Ace, that black strat means Clapton...the tobacco burst LP and mortician's hat means Slash. Like it or not, he has an image that has become known by everyone. I've always enjoyed his playing. I don't idolize him or anything, but GnR didn't become as huge as they did because of his hat, lol. Welcome to the Jungle knocked us all on our collective azzes when it came out because while the hair bands were wearing all their makeup and posing and what not, GnR were just a bunch of rockin' dudes who had an attitude, a look, a sound, and some kick butt songs.

I don't believe I just wrote all this, ha ha. I'm not really a fan of GnR OR Slash, but they're big time, that's for sure.
