I feel like that too, but I see both sides of the coin.Generally, if I am happy with the EQ of the signal going into the amp, I don't need an EQ.
I'd maybe look at the Transition from Dimarzio
every guitar player should have an eq around
I was going to suggest A8 too. A little warmer than ceramic - and a little bouncier.
yeah, but its not that hot or balanced actually
I am looking for a humbucker sounding like the Custom 5 but with some more mids which results in en even balanced low-mid-high pickup
I like Alnico 5 humbuckers in general. The JB is too much mids for me or actual too much low-mids and high-mids without the mid-mids
So looking for a warm- even tone but with high output (14-16k)
any ideas?
ime Tone Zone is the most even sounding hot humbucker. some say it's bassy, but I haven't had that experience with it thru any amp or modeler I've ever tried so I don't know what they're talking about, unless theyre just listening with their eyes at the EQ chart Dimarzio has on their website. It's smooth and yet it can totally thrash
A Bare Knuckle Abraxas would describe this. Pretty even eq across the board. It has a 14k resistance. It does a hifi kind of reproduction of the acoustic sound of the guitar. Mind you I didn't get on with it in a Les Paul. Sounded good with an A2 magnet though. Very similar to a Custom Custom. Perhaps an A4 magnet is the answer...

You might consider the 498t from Gibson.
How would you describe the sound?
Maybe I am looking for the classic PAF tone with a higher output (about 15K)
