Don't think this has been talked about yet but my favorite thing released this year at NAMM was the Eventide Space reverb pedal.

This isn't a lot of people's bag, but this is right up my alley. I do a lot of ambient pads and reverb-laden solos. A complaint I've had in the past is that you can find plenty of delays with presets, as well as digital dirt boxes and modulation pedals, but never reverb.

This will help me make some great seemless transitions that I haven't been able to do in the past without knob tweaking.

However at the $500 preorder price, it might be a year or two before I get my hands on it.

I already have the Eventide TimeFactor which I LOVE and can get a lot of great things out of, but having reverb presets will be awesome.

Does look like a great pedal.

Curious if it can also do some multi-effects? Is there any chorus or delay in this unit, or is it just reverb?

See, the problems I have with pedals like this is that I could never in a million years use it to write a song. If I owned this then all I would do is sit on my bedroom floor, play with the settings and play basic arpeggios of A minor until I gradually slipped into a coma from all the crazy, soulful, ambient awesomeness. When I finally woke up I wouldn't remember anything I'd played and I'd be way too damn relaxed to even think of recording it.

It sounds like an amazing pedal and I love the sounds it can make when other people use it...I just don't think it's safe for me to be alone in a room with it.

I've had similar problems with digital multi-fx boxes...I'd either twiddle the knobs all the time and not play or I'd just find one setting and never change it, either way they weren't super useful for me so I've decided to go with individual stompboxes. :)

I can agree to an extent... When I got the TimeFactor at first I spent probably 4 afternoons learning the darn thing, playing around, and getting my settings. But once I got the idea and a good working knowledge I decided on 8 solid ones that I would use on a regular or semi-regular basis.

Those were:

Dotted 8th short, Dotted 8th Long, A short Reverse type delay, Short Slapback, Vintage Analog Long, Vintage Analog Short, A Long Pad-like setting (that I can actually put on infinite repeats if I want), and a "Streets Have No Names" type double-delay

This is the same thing I would do in the case of the Space

I'll have things like:
Short Spring (for my amps that don't have reverb) Long Spring for some syrupy surf type stuff, Hall (short/long), Shimmer, Pads, Space, and a couple of wacky ones for fun

It seems a bit daunting unless you break it down into what you want/need, then things like tap tempo and expression pedal adjustments can do on-the-fly stuff

This really is a great pedal... My only complaints about it is that: 1. it doesn't do the "Shimmer" or "Octo" (see: Verbzilla) type reverb that I like to use quite a bit for pad-type sounds, and 2. You can only save one preset per reverb-type... i.e. If I wanted more than one HALL reverb I would have to change some knobs mid-set.

While I do suffer somewhat from an addiction to tweaking, that's not really what I meant in my original post. All I meant was that I love the sound of pedals like this so much that I just can't write anything because what I'm enjoying the sound so much. Kinda like when I get one of those days where my tone just sounds really, really great and I can't concentrate on writing anything because all I want to do is sit on an open powerchord and listen to the roar.

I don't know if that makes sense to anyone, really. Maybe it's just weird. Sometimes I just enjoy playing too much to think about whether what I'm playing would sound good as a song. That's why I always have to remove my delay pedal from my chain if I want to write something. I just dig the sound so much. And I haven't changed the settings on that thing in months. Sometimes I have to intentionally make my tone sound bad just so I can concentrate on songs.

I'm a weirdo. :wave:

Well you sort of get one bonus preset by setting the knobs were you like them when another preset isn't pulled up, but to each his own
