Even though I just ordered one, I'm not sure what to think about this fairly innocuous vanity mod. I think the "Why?" and the "Why not?" are roughly equal in strength.

So have you made this stupid/cool/neutral customization to any amps? What was the amp? From what color to what color? I have a Hot Rod Deluxe III, and I'm going from factory red to purple, with a jewel from Fender.

Oops. Need a revote.

I have not yet, but I would. I think a purple jewel light glowing on my Fender would look sweet when the lights go down.

Re: Ever change out the jewel light lens on an amp?

I changed the one on my Belair to Blue

my buddy put a green one on his Twin about the same time

A vote for "already have" here. Why not change the jewel light to the color of your choice? It's as easy as it gets screwing the old one off and the new one on! I've changed red ones to purple, blue and green ones depending on the amps tolex and dial colors, I just got what I thought suited it the most and changed them. In my opinion it's far from a stupid mod, just get what you like and don't let anybody's judgement stop you from doing so!! ;-)

I switched out the red one on my Blue Angel (with blue leather covering) for...a blue one. I have no idea how Mesa overlooked that.

Re: Ever change out the jewel light lens on an amp?

i have the stock red on my bf dr, but everything else has a different color. celtic 5e7 has green, celtic 5e3 has amber, musicmaster bass has purple, dual showman reveb has blue, cant recall the others off the top of my head

Re: Ever change out the jewel light lens on an amp?

I have an amber jewel on the Bogner, and blue on my Fender Pro Reverb.

The only problems I've encountered is that there's not one standard thread size. There's always a chance you'll buy jewel lamps that won't thread onto your amp.

My JSX currently has a green jewel light. Stock color is red. It has previously worn blue, purple, and amber as well.

I go with green a lot because of being Celtic. But some Amps need red or they ain't looking right. I'll also recommend a color on a custom cosmetics order.

Re: Ever change out the jewel light lens on an amp?

when i had the DRRI i used the green one. looked cool to me

Re: Ever change out the jewel light lens on an amp?

I would consider changing the color only if the stock bulb fried-out. (or if the stock bulb was like pink or purple or magenta ect,,canary yellow lol)

Re: Ever change out the jewel light lens on an amp?

I bought a green one after running my Bassman with no nm jewel for years. I like it.

Re: Ever change out the jewel light lens on an amp?

If amp makers were thinking like a player, they'd make it a gooseneck black light so you can read the panel on stage.

Or a BNC like on some larger mixers.

Re: Ever change out the jewel light lens on an amp?

Today I found out that my purple jewel lens isn't coming until Tuesday. How dare I be made to wait a few more days to change the color of a light on an amplifier that I never use?! I'm fairly outraged about this.

Re: Ever change out the jewel light lens on an amp?

Never liked the Green Jewel light the Fender Prosonics came with unless it was on a Green Lizard amp. Always changed mine to ether Blue Purple or Red.
