Ever run across your old guitars up for sale?

Re: Ever run across your old guitars up for sale?

Can't do it. My justification for selling it was that I'd finally gotten my stolen 97 back and they felt and sounded practically identical-the 08 being a replacement, of sorts, for the hole in my soul left by the 97. I'd love it back, on principle, but I've been in a slow 'sell' mode for a couple years, now. It's just hard to see it get rejected, I guess you could say.

Are we talking about exact guitars or same model guitars?

I've seen a couple things like amps and bicycles being resold, which I owned.

More often, I see the same model, and get to gaze at the pics for awhile, discerning any difference there was between theirs and one of mine I previously owned. That's always interesting.

No, that's mine. He doesn't have the white plastics because they're in my guitar room, somewhere. Same with the COA stating it's a custom order. I also recognize his 'net handle' from the MLP forum, where I sold it to him a couple months back.

Sounds to me like you are making excuses when you should he getting your custom V back :smokin:

Re: Ever run across your old guitars up for sale?

yeah, I had 2 of a Washburn model, and I sold one. am gonna sell the other so was looking on ebay for price ideas of what they run and I see a pic of MY guitar (old one), sitting in back of MY house!!! I open it up and the dude that bought my guitar is reselling it and is using the EXACT same add that I used to sell to him.. MY pics, my exact description and everything. Just has his ebay name and stuff. freaked me out

Re: Ever run across your old guitars up for sale?

No, because I've only sold like 10 things before, and both were to pawn shops. An old Explorer of indefinite age that I sold for an engagement ring, and a few pedals that i had bought for like a couple songs, and then found something that does the same thing as well as another pedal on my board (the CAE Overdrive/ booster comes to mind) (I don't remember what I bought a Ring Modulator for, only that it was during my Primus phase).

I'd probably be getting that V back though, as it's a Hamer, which is soon to be no longer around. That thing'll be worth double what it is right now.

Re: Ever run across your old guitars up for sale?

There is another one of these for sale on MLP as well...

Re: Ever run across your old guitars up for sale?

Oh snap.

But for me, no. Aside from 1 I've never really sold any of my guitars.

Re: Ever run across your old guitars up for sale?

Sold my old Dean Deceiver, and saw it listed on CL a week later haha.

Funny thing is I typed that description out myself- if it was identical it was completely unintentional. I used your pics because my camera sucks, and the appearance hasn't changed. Lol sorry if I scared you.

Re: Ever run across your old guitars up for sale?

that I had loaned to friends

i stopped loaning stuff out

Re: Ever run across your old guitars up for sale?

I recall the Fender USA James Burton signature Telecaster that I traded against a Big Apple Stratocaster resurfacing on eBay about eighteen months ago. The vendor used to run a shop until some debtor punched his teeth down his throat. Being only seven miles away, I contacted him about collection in person. He staunchly insisted on mailing the guitar. No sale!

Re: Ever run across your old guitars up for sale?

I sold about four or five guitars, only one came up again, several times. It was a Jackson DXMG loaded with EMG 85/89, it was one of my first serious "projects" as far as modifying and repairs go, about ten years ago. Since I sold it it changed owners for about three or four times. It was a minter until the third owner got it. At some point I considered buying it back but when I saw the condition it was in I changed my mind.

Funny thing, I'd be glad if someone copied my ad description. Last time this guitar was selling as if the 85 was 81 and the 89 was an "acoustic pickup". WTF??

Re: Ever run across your old guitars up for sale?

Didn't you post pics of that one in the Hamer thread? The tortoise pickguard stands out.

I've never really sold any of my guitars, although I have given a few away. I've loaned equipment out and had the recipient re-sell them without my knowledge, though.

I like the edit to the description:

**NOTE: because i've received this question a few times now, this is a USA made guitar made in the Hamer custom shop. This is NOT a cheaper import, which is why it is priced higher than the import models. Please do not compare this to other currently listed hamer vectors which are imports. I'm sorry, but if you cannot afford a USA made vector, do not question/complain about the price, please go ahead and look at imports in your price range.

Yeah it's only happened once. A few months back I saw my old purple USA Wolfie for sale. I do wish I still had that one, the guy was selling for double what he paid me... and he got it! Lol
