You sound like you would be a fan of super strat guitars. Like me! :D

The best budget superstrats are, in my opinion, ESPs or Schecters. At least, those are the ones you're going to find in stores. As for cheap Jacksons, I'm personally not a fan. My personal favorite for super strat comfort is the ESP F series. They look pretty cheezy, but I don't think I've found a more comfortable guitar that sounds as good as they do.

A Schecter Hellraiser might be something you'd be interested in, too.

Both are really good guitars, in my opinion. Perfect for the heavy metal kind of sound.

yes i had glimpsed at the Jackson supers which got my mind running, i will check those out too, i do like the look of the supers tbh and i wouldn't mind paying that bit more for one either, i also like the colours they do too on these things, even being a lefty and maybe having 2 colours to choose from these things look pretty darn cool! i'll have a look see whos got them instore in the uk and try them out. :)

Many thanks Vincent! ;)

Re: Every guitar i try is a disappointment (sorry if my threads are annoying, lol)

Not a problem! One suggestion I might make as well is to try both ESPs and Jacksons. I know a lot of people who would disagree with me, but I do not like most of the cheap Jackson super strats. It's not until they get up in the $800ish range that the Jacksons really seem to shine. Of course there are exceptions (as always) to that, but for the most part I've found that to be pretty consistent. Conversely, I've found most ESPs to be pretty good, regardless of price tag. If we were going high end, I'd probably go with a Jackson, but if we're staying in the low to mid range, ESP is the way I'd go.

This is just generalization, though. The biggest thing is that you try them all out until you find that one that's right for you! :D

Re: Every guitar i try is a disappointment (sorry if my threads are annoying, lol)

thanks again and $800 translates into about £525 so actually, yes thats a nice price for me in the UK :)

many thanks for your advice again. :D

Re: Every guitar i try is a disappointment (sorry if my threads are annoying, lol)

just remembered someone told me about ESP earlier too, LOL apologies to thewm if they see that.

If you're looking at Ibanez, aim higher than GRG. Ibanez make great guitars, but the Gio series are the lowest quality models.

Re: Every guitar i try is a disappointment (sorry if my threads are annoying, lol)

Thanks TC i will remember that, i was thinking this when i was playing, as much as i liked it i was put off by (the lack of set up, naturally) the lack of finesse??? that the more expensive mid range upwards guitars have, it felt like my squier strat but... well... its difficult to describe but i thought, another £200 quid and it would feel great. the problem is Ibanez don't make many left handers?

Re: Every guitar i try is a disappointment (sorry if my threads are annoying, lol)

precisely why ya just gotta own (at least) one of each!!! :D

...a better amplifier.

+1 on both points.
I've given up on finding the perfect guitar so I have 4 guitars that I like very much.
As for the amp...
At least a valve JR and a Boss DS-1 or something. Something that can get you away from solid state... cheap solid state at that. but you've heard that before so I'll leave it at that.

They make quite a few left handers if I remember. Try looking for a left handed RG.

That one is ace. I loved the one I played on.

i am keeping that i mind, i have never written it off, that will come after the guitar, but if i get a good guitar, earn some cash then get an amp, i can trade in my two solid state things and put it towards a decent valve rig.

Re: Every guitar i try is a disappointment (sorry if my threads are annoying, lol)

I like my solid state Tech 21

Re: Every guitar i try is a disappointment (sorry if my threads are annoying, lol)

Have you tried a Flying V? If 'normal' guitars don't seem to fit you, V's are very different. And they have a great sound.

Re: Every guitar i try is a disappointment (sorry if my threads are annoying, lol)

any guitar with a humbucker + any high-gain amp = heavy enough tone for what you described

Re: Every guitar i try is a disappointment (sorry if my threads are annoying, lol)

Another option: you're still pretty young and adaptable. One of the best guitarists I know is left-handed, but plays guitar right-handed. He has ten times the guitar selection he would otherwise. If I was left-handed, I'd probably do the same thing so my choice of guitars wouldn't be so limited. It's a right-handed world, like it or not.

It's true. That's what I do.

There are a lot of advantages to it. I can do a lot of things that other people have trouble with with ease. Conversely, I have problems doing some weird things the right way.

In any case, this is always my suggestion to left handed people.

A lefty playing right-handed would be using his strongest, most co-ordinated hand on the frets, which makes a lot of sense.

This is very true. That's why I decided to do it in the first place. I looked at other guitar players and thought, "That doesn't make sense..." It doesn't. Not for rock guitar, anyway. I run in to problems with acoustic strumming and classical guitar in comparison to other people... But then again, I couldn't care less.

Re: Every guitar i try is a disappointment (sorry if my threads are annoying, lol)

you want something along the lines of a super strat for sure. what you could do is find a standard MiM strat that you're comfortable with and route it out for humbuckers and get a new pickguard, then stick some medium-high output humbuckers in there. that way you're playing an instrument that's comfy and sounds the way you want it to.

i think MIM strats are actually routed HSS (maybe HSH) straight from the factory. and there's a really cool MIM HSS strat with a floyd now. i love the look, and fender makes a lot of stuff in left handed models. i wouldn't be too surprised if they made that one in lefty

EDIT: after looking around i can't find it in lefty :( i'm always shocked and appalled by the low number of lefty models on websites whenever i take a look around
