First, Check out Adirondack guitars.com, great spot for lefties.

Second, BC Rich, ESP, Shecter, and Dean make metal monsters for lefties brother,

As a fellow lefty you just have to play and play until you find the right one for you. Right now I have a Parker that I am in love with.

it's also about $1000 for a custom job with a few decent specs, will cost an arm 'n' a leg for customs and shipping to the UK, and has about a 6 month wait;)

^ and you're still not guaranteed to fall in love with it after waiting 6 months

A lefty playing right-handed would be using his strongest, most co-ordinated hand on the frets, which makes a lot of sense.

This is what my brother always did. (LH playing RH basses.) Many famous guitarists are LH playing RH; Mark Knopfler, Gary Moore and so on. Bassist Jimmy Haslip has custom order LH basses made for him that are strung "upside down" because that is the way that he learned to play.

If you really are as adaptable as you claim, the obvious guy to immitate is Jimi Hendrix. Buy a RH Strat and have it flipped.

Just to confuse matters, I am ambidexterous but play RH guitar or bass. The Chapman Stick in my avatar is ideal for somebody like you. Shame that it is out of your price range.

Where do you get the six month wait from? Is that for international sales?

Apparently the reason we use our strongest hand to strum and our weaker hand for the complex bits is because a baroque lute was played with simple fingerings and lots of complex picking. This carried over as the guitar evolved. I use some flamenco techniques and the right hand for that is much harder than the left hand. It's swings and roundabouts. Mark Knophler and Blixa Bargeld are both lefties who play right handed fingerstyle. Wilko Johnston also a lefty who plays righty and really his right hand techniques are more complex that his left.

Re: Every guitar i try is a disappointment (sorry if my threads are annoying, lol)

I could convert but i have always found it a lot more comfortable playing proper left handed guitars, i know what you are saying guys and i know it's a right handed world, Funny thing is i am normally right handed and do %80 of things right handed yet the other 20% is left handed.... strange.

But yes i could go right handed, but i would have to retrain my co-ordination of my hands etc, which would take time, but yes i have got the years ahead of me to do so. i may contemplate it.

In terms of MIM strat bodies and all that, thing is at the end of the day, its okay dropping SD humbuckers, duckbuckers or those Dimebag tribute pups but that guitar will still play like a MIM strat there's the point where you have to cut that fine line and say only go so far with PUPS or else you end up making a guitar which is like taking a delorean and sticking a mustang badge on it, because at the end of the day, its still a delorean.

I suppose i can do that sort of thing? but i would need a spending limit?

*add on* i may adapt yet, but i may get symmetrical guitars or similar and do a 'hendrix'
