Hi blue, did you shoot that one from the german ebay?

I'm still not quite shure whether it is a real one. It doesnt have the signature of Seymour! I told the seller he should measure both coils to see if one one is semi-shot and has a higher resistance.

Re: evh 78 in LesPaul Std bridge what ya say

yes - well i cd not resist. I guess it is a correct evh 78 9,03k there is no other with such specs.
i did not arrive here.
customer shop PUs dont always need to have a signature.
anyway i'll let you know what it sounds to me.

Neither of my 78s are signed, they just have a tag on the bottom.

I've got a 78 made with Seth parts in my R8 and it sounds great, very punchy aggressive, yet vintage tone.

I've got a Seth in the neck too actually, great combo in my opinion. Here's a post I made about a month or so ago....

Not great playing, or completely cranked amps, but you can at least get an idea.

The signed stuff is the Antiquities.

Even Antiquities don't get signed when you order them without the aged cover.

Re: evh 78 in LesPaul Std bridge what ya say

it could work. But i think that pickup was really made for, and best suited for, strats/ superstrats

COULD work? More like it DOES work. I mean it's just a PAF, and not really even overwound since there are originals in the 9-10K. Truthfully I'd be deathly afraid to hear most guys use it in an alder or ash strat.

Keep us posted. I am tinkering with the idea myself :smokin:

Re: evh 78 in LesPaul Std bridge what ya say

Unless I'm mistaken the 10K class "EVH" pickups are for Eddie's non-tremo guitars for the brown sounds (destroyer) and the 14K class "EVH" pickups for the Floyd sounds.

Am I the only one who like the sound of the trem songs on his first albums better?

Re: evh 78 in LesPaul Std bridge what ya say

Need a refreshment... give me two good songs in which to compare trem with non trem? I like PAFs, but I need MUSCLE and BALLs... hence why I ALWAYS go back to higher output pickups even though on paper I like PAFs... LOL.
