EVH: Ain't Talkin Bout Love help

Can someone please explain to me how EVH does those little trem releases after every other time through the rhythm chords? I can't seem to figure it out by ear. Is he depressing the bar to a certain pitch, then picking the note and raising back to pitch? I am talking about the part at the end of the chorus.

Also, is the slap back echo left on for the solos?
