Yep, might want to look around for the old can o' worms before opening a new one. Basically it comes down to what it's worth to you.

NOOOOOOOOOOO! I think we may have to start an "Official Charvel Thread" thread to dispel all the rumors that Charvels bring up in regards to price, manufacturing, and generally wrong info. But even from the last thread, still it didn't seem to get through to everyone.

ok just for kicks ( and so you know that i have a whacky sense of humor we can switch roles!)

These Charvels are not really that overpriced becuase they are collectors items. You have to understand that. plus the workmanship on them is second to none. they are totally 100% handcrafted instruments not CNC made and have many hours of workmanship go into them.

if you sit down and calculate all the parts you were to buy and then the cost of a very exeperienced luthier to craft it together the price wouldnt be that different.

Amen.

They're not over priced. Some people go out and buy a les paul for $2k.

Some buy a kick ass super strat for $2k.

What's the difference? Taste!

I like GMW but now that they've lost their stratheads, most people don't put them up on as high a pedistile as they used to. That was the main attraction to Charvel enthusiasts was being able to get that old San Dimas strathead feel again. Now that they don't, and Charvel is offering stratheads once again, they have lost some of their mojo.

Yeah, true, but the craftsmanship is the same, which is paramount. You could always get a used Strathead as well....

i played a Charvel the other day and i was amazed. I don't think it was an EVH one or not. But it had a SD Custom 5, one the most gorgeously fast necks i have ever play, flawless construction and a floyd rose to boot. Tell me what is overpriced about that.
