EVH Frankenstein Strat pickguard (tips?)

Hi guys,

I’ve got a black Strat with a white pickguard. I wanted to spray the pickguard red & black, but more importantly, was wondering how to seal it so the paint doesn’t flake, smear, etc.

I’d get a clear pickguard and paint it from the back.

Sand it first with 600 grit to scuff it up so the paint has some tooth to adhere to. I vote to get a clear one and paint the rear as well.
