EVH tone

I ordered the Mighty Mite pickup a couple weeks ago and it came in the other day, I just had it installed tonight. It sounds closer to the brown sound than every pickup I've tried so far! Pretty much along the lines of a Dimarzio super distortion but a bit more articulate! Has anyone tried this pickup yet?

Being that he experimented so freely with pickups, amps and guitars, it is hard to say what the 'absolute' VH pickup is. Also, the fact that he could make anything sound like VH pretty much means it can't just be the pickup.

Not only can it not be the pickup - I'll go so far as to say it really doesn't matter as long as it isn't something really extreme; X2N, Full Shred, EMG81, Distortion, etc...

Too many people have nailed the sound of whatever using whatever. The amp, the effects, and the touch are more of it than anyone can distinguish IMO.
- I won't argue that I believe a SuperD is VH and a Custom Custom is better for 1984....but very different sounds, and again, the amp and effects will drive more than anyone needs unless they OCD about his tone.

I don't OCD about it.

I haven't tried it, but a more articulate SD? I've got a new small case of GAS now. Didn't even know they were still making/selling/shipping that one.

Would this be the 1300 with adjustable hex polepieces?

Yes , the 1300. I believe the polepieces are adjustable

Doesn't look like Might Mite poles are adjustable.

I think you need the vintage 1980's version for adjustable poles
