Here's an interesting one.......the pots that are in my guitar already were the ones that came with the EMG pickups I'm assuming (since it was assembled that way from the factory). Since I'm switching pickups, should the pots be replaced as well? What affect will it have if I don't?

Yeah you need to change to 500k pots. The problem is that the resistance on the active pots is much much lower than the ones for a passive pup. Pots are about 5 bucks a piece.

ya man active pickups come with 25 k ...if u dont switch them you sould like your pickups are dying....go for 500k

Thanks guys, good thing I learned this now. I have a funny feeling that the dudes at the shop either don't know they should be changed or wouldn't be bothered to do so.

Then you definitely DO NOT need to leave your guitar there. Not even for a re-string.
