didn't EVH say recently on Howard Stern that Jimi Hendrix was nothing and couldn't play if you took away his effects and pedals? Interested since thozed two videos are all sustainer, feedback and wah,with alot of other effecs added...

My opinion.... those videos are garbage compared to his old work. They don't sound musical at all...

Those songs suck ass, and anyone saying otherwise are just kissing his ass. If this is the stuff he's doing now, then he's lost the mojo.

Those clips BLEW in terms of musical content. Play a damn song for fux sakes.

Just more over saturated, Muzak sounding garbage. He used to make a guitar and an amp sound like it was alive.
What is it with with classic players who started out with a stripped down old school rig that just screams tone and then degenerate in to multi channel, multi knobbed, multi switched processed hell. I thought our taste got better as we got older.
It reminds me when I first saw Leslie West and Johhny Winter with Steinbergers! :yell:
The 80's ruined all my 70's heroes as they traded in their Marshall's, Vox's and Fender's for Mosfet power amps and rack systems. Guitars with more toggle switches than frets etc. :blackeye: :eek13:

I think he still has the ability to create some great guitar music but his ear for his tone has been soured beyond belief.

Like there is any gear than make his tired old chops sound fresh and inspiring. We could only hope it's loud enough to blow his head out of behind.

A smart business-goober, that's who. At FMIC, apparently. Ed wasn't what he was, but he's one of the few guys out there who can shift you a a lot of gear if you sign him up.

I will be simply amazed if he does for FMIC even a fraction of what he did for Kramer/MM/Peavey.

Kramer had no cred with guitars - he gave it to them. MM had no cred with the mainstream - he gave it to them. Peavey had no cred for either guitars or amps outside of "what you used when you were starting out", bass gear, or country. He gave them both.

Fender already has cred in both areas. What can he do?

Speaking of relying on effects, maybe Eddie'd sound better if he ditched all the sh*t lying around his feet and bought a Plexi......

Well, he already gave the reintroduction of the USA Charvel line a good boost...

And Fender has cred with the mainstream, but not so much the Extreme.... as one Fender Official put it in 2001 "So we bought Jackson, guitars that can say `F++k´ instead of `Darn´"

I think EVH can still move quite a bit here....

Well, Iron Maiden plays Fender, both guys in Judas Priest played Fenders, Malmsteen plays Fender....then there's that left-handed black guy...

I don't think EVH qualifies as 'extreme' in anyone's book except maybe Johnny A's.

jeez that sounded pretty good to me, its nothing like his old stuff sure, but i like all types of music so i enjoyed catherine. Does he HAVE to play one type of sound only? And does it have to be at the limits of his capability to be good? Man give the guy a break, and i have no need to kiss his ass, i'll probably never even meet the guy, or see him for that matter.

Cool looking amp, hopefully it actually sounds good (and isn't overpriced like those Charvels)
