Evil Twin

Empty Pockets

Anybody have any experience with the red-knob Twins Fender was making? Harmony Central's all mixed reviews so I'm wondering if I can get some first-hand advice from you guys...

Basically I want a really clean sound I can color with a distortion pedal...and that sounds like what this amp does.

Re: Evil Twin

Ok...a "Red Knob Twin" and an "Evil Twin" are 2 different amp!!! A red knob twin is a piece of junk...they have the most brittle clean sounds of any Fender tube amp in history, and the distortion channel sucks even worse...an "Evil Twin" on the other hand is really a pretty good amp...it looks a lot like a plain old BF twin until you relize it has no reverb and has a crunch challen built in. If you want an amp with classis Fender Cleans and a good crunch channel an "Evil Twin" is a good choise...these are a lot like the Paul Rivera era Fender amps.

Re: Evil Twin

O.K. The Red Knob Fender's amps Where not the high point in the history
of fender tube amps. But I think they really get a bum rap. My friend had
a red knob twin and I though it sounded great ! I had a Red Knob Super 60
That had Awesome cleans. (It was the O.D. channel that was lame) You
really have to let your ears be the judge. Cuz' everyone has mixed feeling
on these's amps.

Re: Evil Twin

I've never liked either. But when Robben Ford did a workshop at Naropa University a few years ago guess what amp he was playing through the whole time? A Red Knob Twin! And naturally he sounded awesome.

Just goes to show you: it's the singer...not the song.
