Evo 2?

Re: Evo 2?

It's been out since the beginning of the year. Download the catalog, it isn't listed on their website. Haven't hear it yet, but it looks to be less "ear spikey" in lighter guitars.

Re: Evo 2?

how would the evo or evo2 sound in a lp? i was wondering if i should put them in mine. ill prolly still go witha pearly gates bridge and something else neck, havent decided what.

Re: Evo 2?

according to dimarzio and a few owners of this EVO 2 it is much more pleasent to the ears than the first EVO and cleans up much better?

They should work well in the bridge of an LP. The weight of an LP should minimize the spike of the original EVO. I think the LP is what the EVO is made for.

Re: Evo 2?

I've said it probably 10x already.....I wound up HATING the Evo in my floating-trem Ibanez, yet I adore it in my basswood hardtail Charvel.

Is it a bid "hard"? Yes. But the "shrillness" is gone. And it's only like 13k, so notes in the chords don't mush-out.

Re: Evo 2?

In a basswood guitar the Evo was one of those pickups that just kept sounding better the more you backed off on the Gain.

It was the damndest thing for something that I generally think of as a high-output pickup.

It really comes down to the right guitar for the right pickup. I also found the pickup "hard" and somewhat "shrill" in my cheapo Kramer which actually takes pickups very well. However it sounded completely different in my buds guitar....clear as day, brighter...but not shrill at all.

Re: Evo 2?

I don't know how much "modifying" would need to be done to the EVO to make it sound less shrill in a floating-whammy guitar. A magnet switch would do the trick, I assume.

Somebody has GOT to try this at some point.....
