Exoplorer build help

Hello, i'm thinking about ordering a guitar body from precision guitar. I want to paint it. I'm going to use at as my metal rhythm guitar, so i'm also planing on putting some invaders in there. Because of the paint, i'm going to choose to have a rear cavity instead. I'm wondering if there´s anything you think i should choose/change in the customizer?

Also, what does these settings mean? I'm new to the guitar building (my first build)

Cool. I was looking at those kits recently too. One day...

The 'body laminations' settings are for the grain orientation of the wood, essentially for looks.

You can see on this 50s V, it's angled, typical for those guitars of the time.

This one is parallel (recent Faded model).

Re: Exoplorer build help

But what is the 3 piece? I don't really see the difference between angled and parallel tho :/ But that may just be me

Re: Exoplorer build help

How will it affect the guitar? I mean i'm still going to paint it, so does it really matter that much? The parallel is 90 dollars more, so i'm questioning if it's even worth it. Also, what is the 3 piece? Does it matter in any way?

Re: Exoplorer build help

I think the angled means that the wood join on the body will be on an angle to the centreline of the guitar. You can get an explorer to occupy much less board feet by having the join that way, as the join is skewed toward the long angle of each corner.

As a painted body it won't make a difference - you won't see this.

I'm assuming the 3 piece means a 3 piece body instead of two. I'd recommend the 2 piece and parallel would probably look better on an explorer, but if you're painting it solid instead of transparent get the angled and save yourself $90
