I think anything from light rock upwards to metal due to the harshness of a ceramic mag. but high powered alnicos can do lots more styles.

For Pete's sake, a ceramic mag pickup does not have to be a harsh or even hot pickup. It just depends on the design of the pickup. When will this mythology ever end????

I guess you are right. I know some sigle coil size humbuckers use ceramic magnets (like vintage rails). But I don't know any example of a low/medium output humbucker that has a ceramic magnet...

I love high output pickups in the bridge for slide. Whenever I play with my band I usually like to add a little grit, and the warmth of the high output pickup takes away that plinky-ness from the slide. Also covers up some of my mistakes, like a finger slip or something.

oh man. I can't vote on this one. It all depends on the pickup. you could use the JB for Jazz. You could use the CC for country. You could also use them for metal. The custom works if you want a little crunch in your blues. I guess ultimately they work best for metal and hard or pop rock, but they aren't limited to that by any means.

I am glad you can do that with all of this pickups. I allways have thought that it is the player who defines the sound. Anyway, we all have preferences. At least I do...

Yeah, I think it would be nice to expand the Tone Wizard by being able to tell it what style you prefer to switch to bridge pickup on. Might make the Tone Wizard more complex on SD's side, but then again, wasn't the TW meant to be a "point you in the general direction" kind of tool, not a "perfect match finding" tool?

I think the Tone Wizard could use some updating. I think 2 or 3 different riffs (2 rhythm and 1 solo)for the neck and bridge pups through different guitars (LP and Strat) would help out.

I think mostly metal, but all those genres can be extended... and of course you CAN use those for classic rock 'n' stuff, but there are pickups better suited for that, so just select what you think it would be the best choice for

I voted for everything too, but not so much for the overdrive as for the horn-like sustain and bloom the compression of higher output pickups give you, even when played clean, or especially when played clean. If you want a little more air or chime in the tone, you can always back the pickup away from the strings a little bit.

Not that I don't like vintage-ish output pickups in the bridge ever, it depends on the guitar. Some guitars, like my LP Std, have such a naturally beefy, thick tone and bloom that they don't require a high output pickup. I have a Jon Moore hybrid in that one. Whatever works...
