Experience with PRS SE Custom 24 w/ Floyd Rose?

Has anyone put their hands on one of the SE Custom 24 "Floyd" models?

I have played the EMG-equipped "Torero" a few times in the past and wasn't particularly blown away.

I really like that the SE Custom 24 "Floyd" retains a more traditional PRS type styling and features overall.

Thoughts/Experiences?

I've played the core version. It was nice, but the control layout isn't optimized for the position of a Floyd bar. Not a big deal if you're always on the bridge and never touch the volume/tone, but I found it annoyingly in the way.

I have no opinion on the SE version.

I just sold a PRS SE, different model, a singlecut. Nice guitar, plays great, but I found the stock pickups to be quite bad. Don't be surprised if it takes a pickup upgrade to get the guitar sounding its best.

I'm not a fan of Floyd Roses, but if you like then, then they will be good on a PRS. I had a SE 24 with a Floyd on it. Its just like you would think. It still maintains the PRS feel and sound of the SE series, just adding a bigger tremolo system to it. I feel like it got in the way a lot but that's probably due to the fact I'm not a fan.

Interesting...

Calsip - How was the neck profile on yours? Fairly thin? Most sources cite it as a standard "wide-thin" carve, but I've seen a few comments that is was a little thinner than players expected on the Floyd model. Thoughts?

I had the regular 24 SE model and I really liked it. As someone else said, though, the pickups are crap, you will need to change them.
I don't even remember who I sold it to or when, that's kinda sad. :duh:
I got a Jackson PC-1 and it just seemed silly to hold onto the PRS since it wasn't getting played.

On the neck profile, I don't seem to really notice things like that. I switch from the baseball bat of the PC-1 or SL3 to super thin on my Jackson JDR-94 and don't really take much notice of the different feel. I can't really recall the PRS so I would say it's probably in the middle!
